Tele-Physiotherapy: Video Consultations from Your Browser

Tele-physiotherapy became normal during the pandemic and many patients still like it: a follow-up from another city, a quick progression check, a patient who cannot travel this week, an NRI parent's review with the family on the call. But juggling Zoom links, WhatsApp video and a separate billing step is messy. This guide explains how video consultations work inside Clinidiary, with no separate app.

When video works well for physios

Video does not replace hands-on treatment, but it works well for:

  • Follow-ups to check progress and adjust exercises;
  • Reviewing a home programme and correcting technique on camera;
  • Patients in another city, or who have moved away mid-treatment;
  • Post-operative check-ins between home visits;
  • Education: posture, ergonomics, pain science.

How a video consultation works in Clinidiary

  1. Book a video appointment in the diary like any other.
  2. At the time, open the appointment and start the call from your browser.
  3. The patient joins from their link on their phone or computer. There is nothing to install.
  4. You see and hear each other. Share your screen to show an exercise or a scan, and use the chat to send a quick note.
  5. Write the note and raise the bill from the same appointment, as you would for a clinic visit.

No app for the patient

The call runs in the browser on both sides. For an older patient, "click the link we sent" is much easier than installing an app and making an account.

If the camera or microphone does not work

The patient still joins. If their camera is blocked or their microphone is in use, you can still see or hear them, and the chat always works. A call that can only be typed is still a consultation.

Private by design

The call goes directly between your browser and the patient's. The chat messages are not stored anywhere. The record of the consultation is the note you write, on the patient's file, like any other visit. See physiotherapy EMR and treatment notes.

Billing a video session

A video consultation is a service with its own price, billed from the appointment. Collect the payment by UPI, using a QR code or your UPI ID, and share the bill on WhatsApp. See GST billing for physiotherapy clinics.

Mixing video with home and clinic visits

Many post-operative plans work well as a mix: clinic sessions for hands-on treatment, home visits for the first weeks, and video check-ins in between. All three live in one diary and one file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do tele-physiotherapy without Zoom?

Yes. Clinidiary has video calls built in. The patient joins from a link in their browser.

Does the patient need to install an app?

No. The video call runs in the browser on a phone or computer.

Can I share my screen during a video session?

Yes. Share your screen to show an exercise, a diagram or a report.

Is the video call recorded?

No. The call goes between the two browsers, and the chat is not stored. Your note on the patient's file is the record.
